About the Author: Jennifer spent twelve years in what is now known to be an abusive relationship, married to a man from a different culture. She believed that she truly loved him, and he her. She believed they had an enviable marriage despite the differences, and became so entrenched in his way of life and living only to please him, that she lost her own sense of identity in the process. Perhaps naively, she accepted everything he said and did without question. The marriage became more and more volatile, until Jennifer could endure it no more, and left. Jennifer has a daughter from a previous marriage, and within the marriage gave birth to a son. Together she and her (ex) husband adopted a daughter from an orphanage in Sri Lanka. When she finally broke free from her emotional prison, she found herself alone, fighting for her sanity and her children. Jennifer endured years of harassment, intimidation, court hearings, character assassinations, rejections and the heart breaking loss of custody of her two children. From the depths of despair, Jennifer slowly clawed her way back to believe in herself again, and with courage and determination reclaimed her life back. Jennifer has remarried, and now has three step children as well - a regular 'Brady Bunch'. Her children returned to her and now have no contact with their father. Jennifer lives in Melbourne, Australia with Andrew, his daughter and her own three children. Jennifer's inspirational story is powerful and proves that it is possible to escape abuse. She wants to help other victims of abuse to understand why and how it occurs, and where to go for help and support. If you would like to contact Jennifer. please E-mail:
